The MMA Car Seat Safety Program

Program Description baby and car Seat Collage
The Mahwah Police Department's Child Passenger Safety Unit installs and inspects car seats in all types of vehicles for Mahwah Residents. To schedule an appointment, please call 201.529.1000 Ext. 244

What The Car Seat Safety Program Does
The effort provides education and training to parents requiring assistance in properly installing child safety seats and as a result helps ensure that children placed in those seats are protected in the event of an accident.

The Car Seat Safety Program Target Audience
In Mahwah, the D.A.R.E. core curriculum begins in the 5th grade at Joyce Kilmer School, taught once per week by Mahwah D.A.R.E officers.  The curriculum is followed up in the 7th grade at the Ramapo Ridge Middle School, as part of the students’ Health classes, again for a 10 week period.  A third wave of instruction is targeted at the 10th grade, at Mahwah High School, incorporated into the Driver’s Education class.

Participant Cost
The program is free to all students.
